Southern Lao

New Year
I was able to take a few days off over new years to meet Housemate Jess in Southern Lao. It was a great trip to see what Lao is like outside the capital and enjoy some fantastic scenery. Travel times were long, an overnight bus ride of ‘sleeping’ in between swerving on and off the road, riding local crammed busses whilst nursing pigs and chooks and trips on overfilled taxi canoes close to sinking in Mekong waters. We kayaked along the Cambodian border, saw dolphins and waterfalls, relaxed in river bungalows and visited Wat Pu, the largest Khmer ruins outside of Cambodia.

Another reason for avoiding meat...

I love the mobile manicure services

A flat tyre gave me a chance to get some fresh air from my seat next to the cage of pigs tied up at the end of the bus.
